For about a week, A Missouri Lottery Player was unaware he had won $50,000 on his Powerball ticket from the Oct. 13 drawing.

“It was an older ticket that I had in my wallet,” the winner said. “I just kept forgetting to check it.”

He was stunned when he discovered it was a big winner.

“I checked the screen a couple of times,” he laughed. “I actually shut the program down and reloaded it to make sure it was working correctly!”

The Quick Pick ticket purchased at Price Chopper, 701 Watson Drive in Kearney, matched four of the five white-ball numbers plus the Powerball number. The winning numbers for the Oct. 13 drawing were 13, 14, 32, 52 and 64 with the Powerball number of 12.

Powerball is a multi-state Draw Game with drawings held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9:59 p.m. This Wednesday’s jackpot is estimated at $438 million.

In FY25, players in Clay County won more than $39.3 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $2.9 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $17.2 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
